Smoke Animation

Hello,
I have a question regarding smoke simulations. I couldn’t find a help / troubleshooting section so I just post it here.

Is it possible to import smoke animations into KeyShot. I can export the animation as Open VDB or Alembic. When I use the Alembic the file is empty and when using the VDB file I can only use one frame and no sequence.

So is there a way to get the animation working?

So in order to have the animation come through in to KeyShot the simulation needs to be geometry based and exported as an ABC file. From here you can try to apply a scattering medium material that will give a smoke effect. As of now Open VDB animations are not supported and to have the smoke come through correctly from your CAD software particle simulation support is needed which sadly we don’t have quite yet.

Not the answer you were hoping for but I hope this points you in the right direction.

Thanks for pointing that out. I played around with it and it works quite well. Here’s a video without apllying a shader and it already looks quite good, despite the voxel artificts that can be hidden with the volume shader.
